ARTIST STATEMENT

​

With a passion for music and stories came a constant contemplation of the meaning behind the lyrics of every song I heard. That passion easily began integrating into my artwork as I began to explore lyric expressions in a visual way. Each musician shares a story through every note they play or word they sing, and creating a visualization of those stories captivates the listeners. Because musicians have a vision for their own music, my art enhances it and promotes it in a new way.

In order for music to be heard, it must be known. I created Stomping Ground Media as a way to promote musicians and expand their presence in the music industry. The title “Stomping Ground” derives from the idea of community, a place people can come together and share an interest or idea, just like the fan base of Liberty Hall Collective does. Stomping Ground Media is an organization that offers promotional media for local music talent, currently featuring Liberty Hall Collective. 

 

 

"WHAT WILL YOU REMEMBER US BY" DOCUMENTARY

In a 34-minute documentary, we follow Liberty Hall Collective in their journey as they create a band, face the challenges of making it as musicians in small town Iowa, and form a relationship amongst the three diverse band members. The documentary is a cumulative result of different media platforms, including journalism, video, audio, photography, typography, and graphic design.

 

 

"LIGHTS" ALBUM COVER

 The imagery for the album Lights focuses on the transformation of Liberty Hall Collective as a band through their music. The three musicians do not have a set position; they move throughout the instruments and are all equals, all contributing to the music in different ways. The lights on their bodies represent their differences and the theme of lights throughout their songs with imagery reflecting those emotions as well.

Often vinyl records are accompanied by lyric inserts, and I used that idea to showcase some of the songs and specific lyrics from Liberty Hall Collective.
